About Help A Chidl Malawi
Help a Child Malawi is a Faith Based Organisation, an affiliate of Red een Kind in Netherland. The organisation operates to provide a future for children in need, their families and communities. Since 2010, Help a Child implements interventions in Early Childhood Development, natural resources conservation and agri-business in Nkhata-Bay, Rumphi, Mzimba and Nkhota-kota districts.
Help a Child Malawi, in cooperation with Nkhata-Bay district Council will be implementing an EU funded project on Natural Resources management, restoration and regeneration in Nkhata-Bay district. The project aims at Improving natural resource management to prevent land degradation and encroachment, and to enhance biodiversity, biomass, food security, and livelihoods for selected catchment areas. The project will run for 4 years from 2025 to 2028.

Reporting Lines
The project officer will work under the overall supervision of the program manager for Help a Child Malawi and will work closely with Nkhata-Bay District Council.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of the natural resources management component under EU’s Ulimi ndi Chilengedwe project.
- The PO will provide technical advice to the community groups, and stakeholders at community and district level on Integrated Farm Planning, forest-based enterprises and Self Help Groups initiatives within the project.
- Develop annual work plans and all other program documents for the project with assistance from the manager and the district council.
- Developing monthly, quarterly and annual donor reports in alignment with the given EU templates
- Managing project resources, accounting for material and financial resources allocated to the project
- Build and maintain partnerships with community and district stakeholders. The project officer will be a focal person for all Help a Child related components in the project and will liase with all concerned community and district stakeholders.
- Monitoring project activities to ensure smooth project implementation
- Coaching and mentoring of established community structures to ensure that they achieve their targets and realize program goal.
Minimum Requirements
- Advanced university degree in agriculture, natural resource management, environment and ecosystem conservation.
- At least 5 years experience in project management and professional experience in agriculture, natural resources management and environment and ecosystem conservation. Those with knowledge on Self Help Group approach and integrated Farm Planning will have an added advantage
